Back in the midwest playing out of Rock Island, IL! Love it out here!
We have a club with fresh new members taking the reigns and they get it done!
I've been heading up a project on our new Par 65 wooded course in Milan, IL @ Camden Park. The course is either going to be called "The Other Side" or if I have my way the "Wildside". Camden Park has 2 courses on site and 4 practice baskets between the courses and excellent facilities. Jay and Des Reading helped install the original course back in 2001, but over time it's withered away due to construction and tree loss and is now a fun deuce or die course - a far cry from the tight balanced challenge it used to be. With that in mind, everyone decided the park needed a fair and challenging world class course that can be made shorter for daily play and expanded out for major tournaments.
Since back in 2001 the club has been lobbying for a second course on the wooded valley ridden side of the park, and finally got approval last September due to the Women's National Championships being held in the Quad Cities, IA. The orginal design of the second course was a 18 hole one loop layout which would be a 3+hr round, so I made a case for two loops in an effort to give people a chance to get back to their car, use the restroom, or maybe quit after a grueling 8 holes on rugged terrain. So I got the nod to redesign the course under the condition that I maintain as much of the original design as possible (which turned out to be 7 holes). Now 4 months later (400hrs for me) we have 18 baskets in the ground with giant concrete pads, a par 56 230ft avg course, a Par 57 275ft avg course, and a full blown Par 65 with several dogleg par 4's and a slightly Z shaped par 5!
Please check out the new course at IowaDG.com - we have a few pictures posted!

I want to thank a few of the people that have made this course possible!
First, the workhorses Ron Rasmussen and Evan Qualls - they dropped 90% of the trees that had to go! Second, RJ and Reed McDaniel from B&B Hardware, Paul Roesner, Chad Eng, and John Resche who went before the Village Council and got the course approved and have showed continued support on work days throughout the project! Third, all of the silent warriors (Mike the Ax) and the other 80 volunteers who have shown their support including the Iowa City crew that drove over an hour to work on the course (Kevin Stibal, Kelly Berg, and Greg the Ax)! And last but not least Mo dog for keeping me company during the 400hrs of sometimes lonely madness!
Here's a link to some pictures of Mo and the crew! http://iowadg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2617&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=345
Hope to see ya out there!
